Captain Jim Stephens, CAP has returned as the Squadron Commander of the Gallup Raptor Composite Squadron (GallupCAP).  He has been around CAP for several years and by all accounts has been quite successful. 

His many accomplishments include being named the 2006 Civil Air Patrol winner of the coveted F. Ward Reilly Leadership Award; 2006 National Squadron Commander of the Year. and commander of the 2006 CAP National Squadron of Distinction. Captain Stephens has also been named the 2005 New Mexico Wing Squadron Commander of the Year in addition to other awards.  All of the above were done while serving as Squadron Commander of The Gallup Raptor Composite Squadron (GallupCAP). 

Prior to joining the CAP, his military career started in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as a Military Policeman and a tour as a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC. After leaving the USMC he became a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with the National Park Service and served at Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, PA and also the Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi.  He was also a member of the Army National Guard and was deployed to Europe in connection with Operation Joint Endeavor. 

He is a graduate of the U.S. Marine NCO Leadership School, USMC Drill Instructor School, USAF Law Enforcement Supervisors Course, The Army Basic Non-commissioned Officers Course, The University of Mississippi Medical Center Paramedic School, the U.S. Army School of Aviation Medicine Flight Medic Course and many other leadership and management schools and courses from entities such as the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA and the USDA Graduate School in Philadelphia, PA.

Captain Stephens still serves his country as a Registered Nurse Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and is currently stationed in Whiteriver, AZ. He is married to the lovely Darlene Stephens, RN and has a young son, Bobby.

Captain Stephens has agreed to return to his former position as Squadron Commander of The Gallup Raptor Composite Squadron.  He is hopeful and confident that GallupCAP WILL return to its former greatness.
